The Disney World commercials that are out now have me about ready to jump on a plane. The music, the lighting, they’ve captured the magic of that place so perfectly. For me it truly is one of the happiest places on earth, which means the Confectionery at the Magic Kingdom takes the cake as the happiest place within the happiest place on earth for me. I swear, I would move in and survive on cotton candy alone if I could. We took a family vacation there last summer that will remain one of my very favourite trips ever. Loved every second of it (well, if I’m being honest, minus the blistering heat of Florida in mid-August, and one memorable meltdown by my little nephew on It’s A Small World – the word ear piercing comes to mind…it’s a good thing he’s cute). Once he saw the Mickey balloons though he was instantly a happy camper, and once I saw the margaritas I was too. I came across these photos today and couldn’t resist posting a few of the park and the wonderful Grand Floridian hotel, including one of clouds that I swear look like Mickey Mouse ears. Even the clouds are magical, how do they do it?!

Had a wonderful lunch today with the family, in celebration of a very very special lady. Lots of great food, including one of her favourite things in the world – a dessert with lemon and raspberries. I ended up making this Tyler Florence recipe and I am happy to say it was definitely a crowd pleaser — I substituted in raspberries instead of blueberries, and used shortbread cookies for the crust instead of graham crackers, since we had them on hand. What a very lucky daughter I am.
This week, my mom and I headed to the Art Gallery of Ontario for a visit and had such a lovely day. I couldn’t help taking some interior shots for an architectural photography class in between taking in some of the new exhibits. Such an amazing place. Such amazing croissants in the cafe. This is mostly a food photography site after all, so you know I can’t resist throwing that in there! Must go back again soon!
Cinco de Mayo is coming up this weekend, which in my book is really just an excuse to have a margarita. I’ve never met a strawberry I didn’t like, and never met a margarita I didn’t like either to be honest, so put them together and you have perfection in my opinion. We’re having some friends over this weekend (truth be told on Friday, so technically not Cinco de Mayo, more like Cuatro de Mayo I guess!), so margaritas will definitely be on the menu. Now just need to find the perfect recipe…decisions, decisions…
