Scooter / April 22, 2014

Yep, that’s right, I’ve decided his name is Scooter. In honour of Earth Day today, I thought this little guy, who I came across a few years ago while in Botswana, deserved a special spot up on the blog. Earth Day is always one of my favourite days of the year — it’s such a good reminder to step back and appreciate where we live and the beauty around us. I recently stumbled upon this incredible video by The North Face and have watched it over and over again. First and foremost it’s beautifully shot, but more than that, it so perfectly encapsulates our need to explore, whether at a park across the street or on a trip across the globe. It’s a video well worth watching any day, but most especially today.

Exciting News! / April 3, 2014

Earlier in the year I decided to enter the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year competition. I was so happy to find out recently that my image above was shortlisted! My original post can be found here if you’d like to take a look. While I am not a finalist, to be included amongst the 400 images that were shortlisted is beyond exciting for me — the rest of the images can be viewed in an online gallery on their site (my image can be found scrolling down a bit in the Food Bloggers category). It’s well worth a look at the gallery, some absolutely beautiful images were submitted to the competition. Looking forward to hearing about the finalists and overall winner, which will be announced at the end of the month with a gallery reception in London, England. Yet another reminder that photography, in all of its forms, is quite an inspiring industry — I am so lucky to be a part of it.
