It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere: Apple & Pear Whisky Sour Fizz / November 7, 2014


It’s almost the weekend, and that means it’s time for another It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere drink! A few weekends ago my friends and I headed out for a little winery tour, where I was openly mocked about my love of wine spritzers. Despite the fact that it was pretty much the running joke of the day, I still love them (my friends, that is…and of course my love of spritzers will never waver). I think any drink tastes a little better with a spash of something sparkly and this drink is no exception! It’s all the great flavours of the season, mixed with the ingredients of a whisky sour, so you can’t go wrong with that. (That being said, it would be equally as good without the whisky!)


Apple & Pear Whisky Sour Fizz (makes 1 drink)
1/2 cup apple cider
1/4 cup pear juice
1 oz. whisky
2.5 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp. simple syrup*
a splash of gingerale (about 4 tbsp., or to taste if you prefer less sweetness)

*To make the simple syrup, add in equal parts of sugar and water to a saucepan. Stir over low heat until sugar dissolves and set aside to cool. Then simply add some ice to a cocktail glass. Pour in whisky, cider, pear juice, lemon juice, simple syrup, and gingerale, stir and enjoy! Cheers :)
